Managing a Photo Album

Gallerix

We offer the Gallerix module that let you create pages with photos and other pictures.

The photos can be captioned. The result is a set of small icons shown on the album page which when clicked take you to the display screen with a small set of icons at the top or bottom and one large photo. Clicking on the icons loads the new photo for you.

Creating a new Album

Thumbnail of the Create Album page.Once the module was installed, click on Create content. This gives you the option to create an Album. Click on that link. Now you see the usual page creation form. It includes a title which is the name of your Album, a brief description that will be shown on the main page, and the usual features: menu entries, URL alias, XML sitemap, etc.

At this time, you cannot add images. Please, do not use the File attachment to add images. This is the regular File attachment that will appear at the bottom of your page, not as pictures. In order to add the picture, Save this page, then you will see a special tab named Pictures at the top of the page.

You can later edit your Album default setup by clicking on the Edit link at the top of the page.

Adding Images

Now that you saved your new Album, look at the top of the page. You see a new tab named Picture. This tab is used to add, delete, name pictures in your album. Clicking on the link brings you to the page where you can add new pictures.

The number of pictures you can add at once can be changed in the module settings.

Simply browse your hard drive, then click on Save. The system will show you a bar with completion information. If you have real large images, it make take a while. We suggest that you do not upload files larger then 250Kb since people viewing the images will also have to wait for the images to load (a good size is actually 64Kb or less.)

The system automatically creates thumbnails at the time you upload your images. It also creates a version of the thumbnail with a white mask to semi-hide the image (this feature can be turned off.) The thumbnails are used for navigation.

Once you clicked on Save, the system automatically takes you to the Manage tab so you can enter captions to your images. If you are uploading photos, some such information may automatically be entered.

Manage Photos

When in the Manage tab, you can change the photos caption and delete photos that you do not want any more.

To change the caption, enter it in the text area provided next to the corresponding thumbnail. Then hit Save at the bottom.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The system will give you this message: All pictures have been deleted. We will try to remove this message at a later time since images are not deleted when you simply click on Save.
